505 Carbon Boom
Developing a carbon fiber boom for the 505 was not a trivial undertaking. We went with an oval section, tapering towards the outhaul. Naval Architect Eric Sponberg was consulted on the laminate schedule, which includes extra re-inforcing in high load areas. This boom is a winner! Price does not include fittings.

International 505 Hi-Aspect Centerboard – 480 sq in
The class is evolving towards 480 sq inches in wetted area being the size of choice, especially for breezier locations.
Uses a multi-layer layup of both uni and woven carbon fiber over a core of Sitka Spruce. Very stiff, and weighs in at about 4.2kg.
We’ve done this size with both squared-off tips and with rounded tips, and with fixed pin extentions and removable pin extensions. See the gallery for examples of all.
Note: requires centerboard pin location to be moved forward in the trunk. This foil will not fit all boats.
We’ve built centerboards for Waterats, Rondars, Kyrwoods, Van Munsters, Lindsays, Freemantles and Parkers and have notes on these centerboard trunks (always best to measure your own, of course). And we were a supplier to Witchcraft while they were in production (their design also available).

As with the 480 board, uses a multi-layer layup of both uni and woven carbon fiber over a core of Sitka Spruce.

International 505 Hi-Aspect Centerboard – 430 sq in
Centerboard sizes continue to trend downwards in the 5o5 class, especially in breezy venues.
As with the 480 board, uses a multi-layer layup of both uni and woven carbon fiber over a core of Sitka Spruce.
This design doesn’t go for the ultimate in length, preferring to keep a bit of area at the waterline to ensure sufficient strength (same root chord length and thickness as the 480).
Available in your choice of fixed pin extension or removable pin extension, see the gallery for examples.

International 505 Very High Aspect Rudder
Developed for a couple of high profile 5o5 sailors in the US, it was sailed to 9th at the 2003 Worlds and was on the winning boat in several east coast regattas.
A blend of sitka spruce and red cedar with a carbon fiber layup, the rudder is very light despite the high strength requirements.
Also available as a lifting rudder with a custom carbon fiber cassette (see 50503RC) and as a molded version (available at lower cost – group purchases only).

International 505 VHA Lifting Rudder for Cassette
A lifting version of our VHA rudder 50503R. The blade maintains its foil cross-section to the top, and comes with a carbon fiber cassette. The cassette can be fitted with standard rudder fittings, or optionally with laminated carbon gudgeons.
