Kirby 25 Rudder

Sometimes a design just falls into your lap.

A friend that’s active in the Kirby 25 class, and who happens to be a CAD/CAM guy, took very accurate measurements of his rudder (an original) and sent us the CAD file.

We’ve been rolling our own rudder posts in carbon fiber for substantial weight savings over the original stainless post. These rudders are strong and light, and the right shape. A popular item for us.

Kirby 25 HA Rudder

Not racing one design? Then this higher aspect ratio design might interest you. It has the same wetted area as the stock rudder, but is six inches deeper and with a slightly more elliptical planform. This was a special design request from a customer in Bermuda who needed the deeper rudder to deal with the large waves he frequently sailed in.
